December

December in the sky.

Reflections by Emily Bingham

For me, December always seems to carry the energy of a just-shaken snow globe. Thanksgiving passes and immediately we step into the swirling flurry of decorating, shopping, traveling, gathering, and tying up all the end-of-year threads. But this month of the winter solstice – the longest night of the year – reminds us that there is magic to be found in the dark, deep quiet of the natural world. That taking time to rest is not just important but vital to support our growth in other seasons.

The astrology of December 2024 supports this necessary pause. In fact, over the coming weeks the planets are inviting us not only to rest but to sit with some thoughtful review. With two planets retrograde (Mercury, planet of communication and messages, and Mars, planet of energy and action), a full moon in expressive Gemini and a new moon in patient Capricorn, this time feels extra supportive for year-end reflections, reassessing and reimagining – without the pressure to make big changes or begin anything new just yet. Schedule some just-you time to get cozy with a journal and look back on your year.

How have you evolved?
Who or what supported your growth?
What truly lit you up, and how might you experience more of that in the coming year?

Here are a few key astrological dates for the remainder of December:

Sunday, December 15: Full moon in Gemini

Sunday, December 15: Mercury goes direct

Saturday, December 21: Sun enters Capricorn + Winter Solstice

Monday, December 30: New moon in Capricorn

Wishing you all the magic of a sparkling winter night sky,
