Gather in Consciousness.

We are living in a world that is navigating through restrictions. We are all feeling some sort of suffocation. Wanting to get back to our structure, our routines. We are quickly learning that our new normal is something that changes weekly, daily, heck even by the hour some days. Add the layer of it being the Holidays and so much of the feeling in this season was created out of nostalgia, connection, loved ones, etc. All the traditional ways of creating your experience in this season likely look very different this year.

As a Studio, we have been ebbing + flowing all year, rolling with the punches. In a constant state of adaptation. Nothing is normal, and it feels like nothing is surprising us anymore (lol). We have no expectations.

And you know what, maybe that’s the point anyway?

Life has always been unpredictable. We are not entitled to anything. What if we were able to step back, take a deep breath, and remember that we have always been adapting? Not to diminish what is happening in our world, but can we gain new perspective— today has been and will always be preparing us for tomorrow.

So take it one step at a time.

Remember why you’re doing what you’re doing.

Stay the course and keep showing up. No expectations.

Just remembering what you HAVE that already exists.

Lean into your blessings. Count them twice.

Remember what you CAN do in this time.

At the Space, we want to remind you of a few things we CAN do. We will share a few of the things we love that maybe will inspire you to lean in with us. OR create your own list.

  1. Start a Gratitude Practice

    Get a journal, put it by your bed, either first thing in the morning or the last thing before you head to slumber— jot down a handful of things that you are grateful for. Become aware and recognize it. Write it down, see it, ingest it.

  2. Shop and Support Small Businesses

    Shopping small has never been more important. Through December 24th, we are offering curbside pickup on all our online shop orders! Check our our current offerings here: DiscoverTheSpace.com/Shop

  3. Move Your Body

    We forget that moving our physical body goes hand in hand with moving our mental body. Tap in, show up, just get started and see where it takes you.   4. Contribute to Something Bigger

    As a Studio, we are hosting a very special way to give this year. We have decided to support and contribute to the Amber Reineck House, a Woman’s safe house for recovery in Howell, Mi. We are partnering with them and sending out a list of basic items they are in need of at this time. More info below to partner with us.

    OR! Find a cause and make a donation! Donate some time, or $5 or $100. Call the organization and see what the most effective way to help is as most charities have been adapting this year too.

  5. Schedule “coffee dates” with your friends, virtually.

    We aren’t having the organic flow of seeing friends in this time. We have to book it. Contact someone you haven’t seen in a while and book a facetime coffee date. Catch up, “see” each other. You know, connect.

Remember it, create it, write it down, put it somewhere you can be reminded everyday. How to stay connected, to keep feeling your life, and participating in new ways this season.

Let’s close out this year CONSCIOUS.

At the Space, our hearts are heavy not just for our fellow small business community, but also for the way that the pandemic has impacted the non-profits in our world. Non-profits have had to pivot in a huge way, sacrificing a lot of the ways they typically can fundraise to support their mission.

One of our incredible clients, Courtney Atsalakis, opened her safe house for women right before this current shutdown we are in.

The Amber Reineck House is doing big things already in the community:

  • They are the only women’s recovery house in Livingston County. It will help 6 women at a time.

  • They have a weekly Thursday meeting to help those who have lost a loved one from Substance Use Disorder OR someone who loves someone who is struggling. This group is in person and on zoom free of charge.

  • They are working with the Livingston County Jail to sponsor their K9 officer in the jail.

  • They have a scholarship fund that helps ANY Livingston county resident with their first months rent of Sober/ Recovery livings first month rent.

  • They help distribute Narcan into the community. This is the drug reversal drug.

We are partnering with them this season. Here’s how you can join us:

  1. Below is a list of common and basic needs for the Home. All donated items can be new or used if you have extra around your home!

    • Cleaning supplies: Clorox wipes, Windex, Mr. Clean, dish soap, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, dishwashing soap, broom and dust pan

    • Yoga mats

    • Any personal development books, spiritual, motivational, ect.

    • Craft supplies

    • Office supplies: paper, notebooks, journals, envelopes, index cards, pens, pencils, highlights, white board marketers.

    • Personal hygiene products: Tampons, soap, lotions, toothpaste, toothbrushes, brushes, hair dryers, shampoo and conditioner

    If you are able and feel led, please bring your item(s) to the Fuel for drop off. We will be collecting through December 31, 2020. The fuel is open Tuesday - Sunday 9a-4p. There will be a basket by the door that leads into the Space you can put your items in. No need to gift wrap, just put in a grocery bag.

  2. The other option is to donate to the Amber Reineck House. If this option works best for you, please click here to donate.

Our Breakdown workshop is an unpacking of basic yoga poses, designed to deepen your everyday practice. Join Hayley Pierzynski in this workshop created to give you proper alignment of the poses you flow through in classes.

This is an opportunity to slow down, walk through the process of deepening and softening into the structure of the asana. Teaching you tricks and modifications to deepen your practice and activate new spaces in the body! When we allow ourselves to slow down and create a deeper understanding, we give ourselves permission to activate new parts of ourselves. This class is for all levels!

This is a virtual workshop! We will be meeting via Zoom right from the comfort of your own home. The code for the room will be sent out 30 minutes prior to start time. It will be emailed to whatever email your mindbody account is associated with.
